    Who runs this site

    mgdarwish.com is the official website of the author M.G. Darwish (“I” and “me” on this page). I decide how the personal data described here is used. You can reach me about privacy at [email protected].

    What I collect, and why

    When you send a message

    The contact form collects your name, email address, the topic and your message, and delivers them to my inbox through Web3Forms, a form-delivery service. I use them only to reply to you, and keep them only as long as the conversation needs. If you email me directly, the same applies.

    To keep spam bots out, the form uses hCaptcha. It loads only when you start filling the form in, and it looks at things like your IP address and browser to tell people from bots, under hCaptcha’s own privacy policy.

    When you browse

    I use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and how they find the site. It records things like the pages you visit, the site that referred you, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (country or city, worked out from your IP address; Google Analytics does not store IP addresses). It uses first-party cookies to tell visits apart. Advertising features are switched off: no ad cookies, and no ad personalization.

    The site is delivered by Google Firebase Hosting and routed through Cloudflare. Like any web host, they process your IP address and basic request details to serve pages and protect the site from abuse.

    When you play the games

    The survival quiz and the book scramble run entirely in your browser. The scramble may remember your best score in your browser’s local storage; it never leaves your device. The quiz’s result image is made on your device and is only shared if you choose to share it.

    Embedded videos and outside links

    Some posts include YouTube videos. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play, and the player uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Links to Amazon, Goodreads, Audible and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.

    Cookies

    The site’s own cookies are the Google Analytics cookies described above; hCaptcha may set its own when you use the contact form. The site sets no advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them.

    Your rights

    Wherever you live, you can ask me what personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Write to [email protected] and I will respond within 30 days.

    Children

    This site is not aimed at children under 13, and my books are written for adults. I don’t knowingly collect data from children.

    Changes

    If this policy changes, I will update it on this page and change the date at the top.
